Preparing for an Interview:
A successful interview begins long before you sit down with the interviewer. Use these tips to help you prepare.
Do the research: Research the company, sources include Internet (company’s web site, plus online search engines) the public library (magazines, trade publications and newspapers) ask friends and colleagues. Find out about corporate culture. How do you think you would fit in. Cost of living in the area.
Salary requirements: Determine your ideal and minimum salary requirements. Ask yourself what you’d like to earn and what you’d settle for if the job is offered. Look for sick leave, vacation, health care, pension plan, profit sharing, bonuses and other perks, they can account for 40% of your compensation.
Skill assessment: Assess your skills as they relate to this particular job. Highlight your strengths in the interview. If you have any weaknesses explain them add you are willing and able to learn.
Make a list of questions that you may be asked: Practice answering them so your thoughts are organized. Practice clear modulated voice and body language. Ask for feed back from friends and family.
Draw up a list of your own questions: Be sure and ask about work hours, dress codes, benefits, bonuses, and so on. Based on your research, come up with questions you can ask the interviewer that display you’re understanding of the company.
