About the Internship Program
Program Overview
Internships are designed to provide students with hands-on work experience, complementing their academic studies within a "real" work environment.
The Internship Program at Shidler College of Business provides both undergraduate and graduate Shidler College students with opportunities to gain practical work experience of eight to a maximum of 20 hours per week (generally a total of 150 hours). Students earn three academic credits. Internships may be either paid or unpaid.
Note: Bus 395 may not be counted toward your major as a major elective; however, it may be used toward the 15 credits of upper-division elective requirement.
MAcc students: BUS 695 does not count towards the non-accounting business elective requirement. Only ACC 695 may be taken as an accounting elective.
Internships generally last 12-14 weeks and are scheduled to coincide with academic semesters: Fall, Spring and Summer. Full-time summer internships are also possible and are arranged on a case-by-case basis.
The internship sponsor is not required to offer a student a job following the completion of an internship. However, an internship allows a sponsor to screen and select potential career employees based on proven job performance.
